Living Large A Mile High

We're back to regular programming on Raising Daisies! I feel as if we have been gone for a month and at the same time it feels as though our vacation time flew by.

We had a fabulous time in Denver.  Each summer, we go back home (my home) to get out of the Missouri heat and spend some quality time with family and friends that we can't see on a regular basis.  I am deeply rooted in Colorado.  I grew up there so my entire family  as well as my oldest and dearest friends are there.  After moving to Missouri, we quickly learned that one week isn't nearly enough time so we expanded it to two weeks.  Even two weeks isn't enough to see everyone. But we try to make the most of the time we have.

Week one was super busy with social events. This year was extra exciting because a lot of people were meeting Maise for the first time.  It was wonderful to introduce her to her Great Grandma Vera, Uncle Phil, and Auntie Gretchen.  The girls were also able to meet their new cousin Chloe.  Chloe and Maise got along famously.  We have a feeling they are going to be best buds.

There were also BBQ's with friends, eating, day trips to parks, more eating, petting zoo's and introducing the girls to my favorite kid places. I loved reliving my childhood watching Mia play in the creek at my favorite park, riding the train my Grandpa drove for years and enjoying the animals at the petting zoo.

Week two we headed south of Denver to spend the week at my Mom's new house in Larkspur.  Her home is beautiful. It is situated right in the foothills with gorgeous views, and minutes away from awesome hiking trails.  Since our girls are still too young for long hikes, we started small and took them on little mini hikes around the neighborhood.  Mia proved to be quite the climber.  She loves climbing rocks and giving her mother a heart attack!

Our last harrah was a day at the Colorado Renessaince Festival.  Mia is really into princesses and castles right now, so she was mega excited and had a blast.  She really got into playing the part! Even Mommy got her hair braided.

As our vacation came to a close, we reflected on how much we love and miss our family, our friends, and the beautiful state of Colorado.  However, they say home is where the heart is and our hearts are with our Missouri home. Terrible heat and all.  We were ready to get back to our furry kids and settle into our regular routine and healthy eating habits (although I could eat another gallon of green chili).

Thanks to everyone we love and miss in Colorado for a wonderful trip! Until we meet again...
