Thanksgiving 2012 Recap

Who can believe Thanksgiving has already come and gone?  Not me, that is for sure! I mean, where has the time gone?? Please slow down!!

Regardless, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday enjoying lots of good food and family time.  We had a wonderful holiday visiting family and friends in Colorado.  Since we stay home for Christmas, we head West every Thanksgiving so that we can celebrate some of the holiday season in my hometown with my side of the family.  It is always good to see everyone, and we love the time they get with our girls.

Despite the LONG drive, we are so gosh-darn thankful for so much! The great weather, our little travelers who do awesome throughout the 12 hour drive, our family, our friends, fabulous food, and the beautiful Colorado mountains that I miss so much.  They always give me a spring in my step when I see them.

We headed out early Monday morning which was perfect because we missed all the major travel traffic and we had a beautiful day to drive. We stop several times along the way to let the girls stretch their legs and play for a while. I love when it is warm enough they can play outdoors.
They call this road a "scenic by-way"
Takin' a break on the road (see Mia in the background?)

We took a couple of days to recoup. Wednesday, we took the girls to our favorite mall for a little shopping and play time. This mall is so kid friendly.  There are little kid rides, a carousel, and a cute choo-choo train that goes around the entire mall.  Mia had a ball!

Thanksgiving Day, we went over to my brother and sister-in-law's house for our big family meal.  This year, it was a blended dinner with my Mom, step-dad, Dad, step-mom, and my sister-in-law's family.  It was really neat to have everyone together.  Having my Grandmother there made it extra special.  I miss her so very much and am so thankful each time we get to see her.

The Grandmas!

My favorite sweet potatoes, yum!

After dinner, it was play time! Cousin Chloe's swing was a big hit!

Maise was not a happy camper when we had to take her out.

Friday, we headed up to my Mom's house in beautiful Larkspur for Round 2. Homemade turkey enchiladas. This is a family tradition my mom started years ago. With her and my Step-dad in Saudi Arabia for the last ten years, we were so very excited to finally start up the tradition again.  This was Gabe's first experience.
Oh SO SO Good!

It was so good to see family we haven't seen in so long.

More cousin time!  These pictures cracked me up. They just look like they are up to no good.

Saturday, I spent some much needed time with my best girlfriends and before we knew it, it was time to head home.  Again, we were so thankful for beautiful weather for the drive home.  We even found this GREAT park in Burlington, CO.  Who knew?  This is going to be a regular stop for us in the future for sure!

Little dare devil

What a fantastic week!  I always love going back my hometown but we were glad to get home and back into our routine.  We were all exhausted! Too much fun.

What did you do for Thanksgiving?
